Racing against pests

Ants, bedbugs, cockroaches, moths, flies, and moles among many other pests can a real nuisance in your home. They will destroy the furniture you bought with loan money, electronics, and leave you and your family needing medical assistance for health problems. To sum the situation up, there is no way you can claim to be ok when your yard is infested with these creepy pests. This is the moment you realize that you need to take a step.

There are many available pest control solutions which can be used to put an end to the invasion. Lately most people have taken to the DIY direction to save on costs of professional pest control services . It may look like an easy task because you have the right sprays and pesticides with you, but in the process you will realize that everything needs skill. There is a special mechanism for eliminating these bugs other than just pointing the sprayer to the villain.

You definitely don’t wish to go back where you have been after only a short period. If you are short of confidence, you’ll be better off using the services of a professional. They are well positioned to get to the root of these pests and eliminate them from the grassroots. They have the required skill to cover a broad blossoming ground for pests and will know the right time to perhaps do a repeat operation. Pest control services may cost you a fortune but the truth is, there will be no more nightmares. (more...)

Garden Storage

The amount of garden storage you need will, of course, depend on the size of your garden, and whether or not you need to accomodate fairly large items of equipment like a lawnmower. If you only have a small plot, or a garden of modern minimalist design with gravel, cobbles, and/or paving instead of grass, then you have not only saved yourself a lot of work, but also saved on the space required for garden storage.

You would probably only then need an outside storage cupboard or chest, which are usually made of plastic so are weatherproof, require no maintenance, and can hold a range of tools and garden supplies. The cupboard has the advantage that, if tall enough, it will accomodate long handled tools like rakes, spades, forks, and such like. The chest or box is rather more limited although some can double up as a garden seat with the addition of a cushion.

The traditional way of storing garden equipment and materials for those with a reasonable sized garden is in a garden shed, and they are available in many different sizes and designs, so that you should easily be able to find one to fit your particular needs. Many put the shed at the bottom of the garden but if it's in full view it needs to be attractive looking, or else obscured by screens or climbing plants or hedging. (more...)

When Birds are Pests

Most of us think of birds as a part of nature we should preserve at all costs, but while most birds are welcome visitors to our neighbourhood and our gardens there are some that can become a nuisance if their numbers get too large. Thus while we should do our best to protect rare species of birds and field and meadow types, these are not the ones to cause us problems. There are many types of birds that thrive in our urban environment and can, in sufficient numbers, become pests. In these situations it may become necessary to instigate some kind of bird control measures.

Larger birds like pigeons can become a threat to buildings by fouling the gutters and contributing to the blockage of downpipes and drains, not to mention fouling of our garden paths and damage to car paintwork from droppings. Birds building their nest in spaces in and around the roof encourage other pests such as insects and rats to enter too.

In towns, starlings as well as pigeons tend to roost in trees overnight and foul the pavements below, making them quite slippery and dangerous for pedestrians. (more...)
